Our Recommendation
8.8

Right Side of the Plane

While both sides offer a spectacular transition from the flat Pampas to the Andes, the right side typically provides the most iconic panoramic views of the massive Lake Nahuel Huapi and the high peaks of the northern Patagonian Andes during the final approach.

Right Side Highlights

🌊

Rio de la Plata

The world's widest estuary, appearing like a brown sea separating Argentina from Uruguay.

🏜️

Patagonian Steppe

A stark landscape transition where the fertile plains turn into the arid, rugged desert of the pre-cordillera.

💧

Lake Nahuel Huapi

The centerpiece of the National Park, a stunning deep blue glacial lake with complex branching arms.

🏝️

Victoria Island

A large, forest-covered island in the middle of the lake, clearly visible during the standard approach pattern.

⛷️

Cerro Catedral

The jagged granite spires and ski slopes of South America's most famous ski resort visible during the final turn.

The right side is the 'money shot' for the Bariloche arrival. As the plane banks to align with the runway, you will get a full-frame view of the lake and the Llao Llao Peninsula. If flying in winter, the contrast between the white snow-capped peaks and the dark blue water is most vibrant around midday.

Left Side Highlights

🏙️

Buenos Aires Skyline

Dramatic views of the dense Microcentro skyscrapers and the iconic Obelisk area shortly after takeoff.

🌾

The Humid Pampas

The vast, productive agricultural heartland of Argentina with its distinctive geometric crop patterns.

🏔️

Mount Tronador

The highest peak in the region, featuring three distinct summits and hanging glaciers, visible on the horizon during descent.

🏞️

Lake Gutierrez

A beautiful, deep green glacial lake nestled between mountains just south of the airport runway.

Choose the left side for morning departures to see the sun illuminate the Buenos Aires coastline. During the descent, keep your eyes on the horizon to spot the massive glaciers of Mount Tronador. This side is also better for avoiding direct glare if flying during the late afternoon when heading southwest.
