Our Recommendation
9.7

Right Side of the Plane

The right side offers a spectacular, close-up view of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres, as you cross the Andes into Chile.

Right Side Highlights
9.7
⛰️

Mount Aconcagua

The crown jewel of the Andes; the massive 6,961-meter summit is clearly visible just north of the flight corridor.

🏜️

San Juan Desert Peaks

Dramatic, colorful rock formations and arid mountain landscapes characteristic of the northern Argentine Andes.

🛤️

Los Caracoles Pass

The famous winding road with sharp switchbacks that connects Argentina and Chile through the Cristo Redentor tunnel area.

🌊

Coastal Range

As you descend into Santiago, you can see the secondary range of mountains that separates the central valley from the Pacific.

The right side is essential for seeing Aconcagua. The crossing of the Andes is the shortest but most intense part of the flight, usually occurring in the last 30 to 45 minutes. Choose a morning flight for the best visibility, as clouds often build up over the peaks by mid-afternoon. Ensure your window is clean, as the high-altitude sunlight is very bright near the snow.

🏙️

Mendoza Metropolitan Area

View the sprawling grid and lush vineyards of Argentina's famous wine capital against the desert backdrop.

🌋

Tupungato Volcano

Spot one of the highest volcanoes in the world, often capped with snow, located south of the main flight path.

🌾

Argentine Pampas

Witness the transition from the humid subtropical lowlands of Paraguay to the vast agricultural plains of Argentina.

❄️

Southern Andean Spine

A continuous chain of jagged, snow-covered peaks stretching toward the Patagonian wilderness.

Sit on the left if you want to see the city of Mendoza during the approach to the mountains. Afternoon flights on this side will be in the shade, providing better lighting for photography of the mountain textures without sun glare.
