ATLEWR

Our Recommendation
8.8

Right Side of the Plane

While both sides offer mountain views, the right side is superior for its unique perspective of Stone Mountain shortly after takeoff and the world-class panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty during the Newark approach.

Right Side Highlights
8.8
🏔️

Stone Mountain

The world's largest piece of exposed granite, clearly visible just east of Atlanta within minutes of takeoff.

🌊

Chesapeake Bay

Stunning aerial views of the massive estuary, its bridges, and the intricate Maryland coastline.

⛵

Delaware Bay

The broad transition where the Delaware River meets the Atlantic Ocean near Cape May.

🏖️

Jersey Shore

The iconic Atlantic coastline featuring barrier islands, beaches, and coastal towns like Atlantic City.

🗽

Manhattan Skyline

Unrivaled views of the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade Center, and the Midtown skyscrapers during the final descent.

This is the 'money side' for the EWR arrival. Choose a window seat forward of the wing to avoid engine heat distortion for photos of New York City. On sunset flights, the city skyline is beautifully backlit or glowing in golden hour light.

Left Side Highlights
7.4
🏙️

Atlanta Skyline

Clear views of Downtown, Midtown, and the Buckhead district immediately after departure from ATL.

⛰️

Blue Ridge Mountains

The rolling peaks and dense forests of the southern Appalachian range stretching through Virginia.

🏞️

Shenandoah Valley

A scenic patchwork of farmland and historic sites nestled between mountain ridges.

🏛️

Potomac River

The historic waterway separating Virginia and Maryland, visible as the flight bypasses the D.C. metro area.

🌉

Susquehanna River

The wide, rocky riverbed visible as the aircraft crosses into the Pennsylvania and Maryland border region.

The left side is the better choice for morning flights to avoid direct sun glare. It offers a more consistent view of the Appalachian mountain chain. If the aircraft performs a 'TEB' arrival pattern, you may occasionally see the George Washington Bridge on this side.
