Our Recommendation
9.5

Left Side of the Plane

The left side offers an unparalleled front-row seat to the Himalayan mountain range as the aircraft enters Nepal, providing views of several 8,000-meter peaks during the descent.

Left Side Highlights
9.5
🌊

Mumbai Coastline

Dramatic views of the Arabian Sea and the northern suburbs of Mumbai immediately following takeoff from BOM.

⛰️

Vindhya Range

The rugged, ancient mountain chains of Central India visible during the early cruise phase.

🌊

Ganges River

Aerial perspective of the holy Ganga as the flight path crosses over the fertile plains of Uttar Pradesh.

🏔️

Annapurna Massif

Iconic snow-capped peaks appearing on the horizon as the flight approaches the Nepal border.

🗻

Dhaulagiri Range

Breathtaking views of one of the world's highest mountains during the descent into the Kathmandu Valley.

Sit on the left side (Seat A) and choose a row forward of the wing to avoid engine exhaust distortion. The Himalayan panorama is most visible during the final 40 minutes of flight. Morning flights (6 AM to 10 AM) are highly recommended, as mountain visibility is best before clouds typically build up in the afternoon. During winter, expect crystal-clear views of the snowline.

Right Side Highlights

🏙️

Mumbai Skyline

Views of the dense urban architecture and the greenery of Sanjay Gandhi National Park during ascent.

🌾

Deccan Plateau

The vast, semi-arid landscapes of the Indian interior with its unique agricultural patterns.

💧

Yamuna River

Sightings of the major tributary snaking through the northern Indian plains.

🏡

Kathmandu Valley Floor

Intimate views of the terraced hills and the sprawling urban density of Kathmandu city during the final approach.

While you miss the high Himalayan peaks, the right side is excellent for seeing the intricate terraced farming of the Nepalese foothills. If the flight arrives in the late afternoon, the right side avoids the direct glare of the sun, making it easier to photograph the landscape. This side is also better for viewing the city of Kathmandu if the aircraft uses the standard southern approach to Runway 02.
