Right Side of the Plane

The right side offers a spectacular vantage point of Utah's most iconic alpine scenery, including the volcanic Tushar Mountains and the towering peaks of the Wasatch Front.

Right Side Highlights
8.7
🌋

Tushar Mountains

High-altitude volcanic peaks, often snow-capped, reaching over 12,000 feet.

🏔️

Mount Nebo

The majestic southern anchor and highest peak of the Wasatch Mountain Range.

💧

Utah Lake

A large freshwater lake providing a beautiful blue contrast to the rugged mountains.

🏙️

Wasatch Front

The continuous urban corridor of Provo, Orem, and Sandy nestled against the cliffs.

🏔️

Lone Peak

Dramatic granite faces and alpine wilderness just south of Salt Lake City.

The right side is best for morning flights when the sun illuminates the Wasatch peaks. Watch for the dramatic transition from the high desert of Cedar City to the alpine terrain of the Wasatch Range.

Left Side Highlights

⛰️

Mineral Mountains

Jagged granite peaks located west of the flight path near Beaver, Utah.

🏜️

Sevier Desert

A vast, arid expanse featuring unique geological textures and dry lake beds.

⏳

Little Sahara

Large white sand dunes that stand out clearly against the darker desert floor.

⛏️

Kennecott Copper Mine

One of the largest man-made excavations on Earth, visible in the Oquirrh Mountains.

🌊

Great Salt Lake

The southern tip of the massive saline lake visible during the final approach.

Choose the left side for afternoon flights to avoid the harsh glare of the sun. This side is better for spotting the massive scale of the Bingham Canyon Mine as you enter the Salt Lake Valley.
