Our Recommendation
8.2

Left Side of the Plane

The left side provides a superior sequence of the Allegheny Plateau, a direct crossing of the Hudson River Valley, and the most iconic perspective of the Boston skyline and Charles River during the standard approach into Logan.

Left Side Highlights
8.2
⛰️

Allegheny Plateau

View the rugged, wave-like ridges of the Appalachian Mountains through central Pennsylvania.

🏞️

Hudson River Valley

A scenic crossing of the historic Hudson River, often near the Catskill Mountains transition.

🌲

The Berkshires

Dense forests and rolling hills of western Massachusetts, particularly vibrant during autumn foliage.

🏙️

Boston Skyline

A front-row seat to the Prudential Center, Hancock Tower, and the Financial District during the final descent.

🏛️

Cambridge & Harvard

The Charles River and the historic campuses of Harvard and MIT are frequently visible on the left turn for landing.

For the best experience, sit in the front half of the cabin to avoid wing obstruction. This side is the 'money' side for photography during the landing sequence, especially if the aircraft follows the common approach path over the Charles River. Morning flights are ideal as the sun will be behind you, illuminating the landscape and city buildings perfectly.

Right Side Highlights
7.5
🌊

Long Island Sound

Glimpses of the Connecticut coastline and the shimmering waters of the Sound to the south.

💧

Quabbin Reservoir

One of the largest man-made reservoirs in the United States, appearing as a massive blue gem in central MA.

⚓

Boston Harbor Islands

A view of the historic forts and lighthouses scattered across the harbor during the final approach.

🏙️

Distant NYC

On exceptionally clear days, the distant silhouette of the New York City skyline can be spotted on the southern horizon.

🏖️

Cape Cod Bay

As the plane banks for its final approach, you can see the distinctive hook of Cape Cod in the distance.

The right side is excellent for viewing the coastal geography of New England. If landing on Runway 4R, you will get an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Harbor Islands just seconds before touchdown. This side is preferred for sunset flights to catch the orange and pink hues reflecting off the water bodies below.
