Our Recommendation
9.2

Right Side of the Plane

While both sides offer incredible views of the Rockies and the Desert Southwest, the right side is preferred for the iconic aerial view of the Las Vegas Strip and the panoramic approach over Downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood Hills.

Right Side Highlights
9.2
🏔️

The Rocky Mountains

Breathtaking views of the snow-capped Colorado peaks and the rugged terrain of the Continental Divide.

🏜️

Utah Red Rocks

The stunning geological formations of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are often visible from cruise altitude.

🎰

Las Vegas Strip

A clear view of the mega-resorts and the Sphere as the flight passes north of the city during initial descent.

🎬

Downtown LA & Hollywood

The premier view during the 'Downwind' leg of the LAX arrival, featuring the skyline, Griffith Observatory, and Hollywood Sign.

✈️

LAX Final Approach

Parallel landings are common at LAX; you may see other aircraft landing simultaneously on the northern runways.

The right side is the 'money side' for the approach. For the best experience, choose a seat forward of the wing to ensure an unobstructed view of the Los Angeles skyline. In winter, the snow-covered Rockies are a highlight roughly halfway through the flight.

Left Side Highlights
8.7
🌊

Mississippi River

Cross the mighty Mississippi near St. Louis, where the scale of the river and the Gateway Arch are often visible.

🏜️

Grand Canyon South Rim

On more southerly flight paths, the vast expanse of the Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert dominates the horizon.

🌵

Mojave National Preserve

Dramatic desert landscapes featuring cinder cones, Joshua Tree forests, and expansive salt flats.

🏔️

San Bernardino Mountains

The final mountain barrier before the LA Basin, featuring the snow-capped peak of Mount San Gorgonio.

🏙️

Inland Empire

The dense urban sprawl of Ontario, Riverside, and San Bernardino as you descend into the Los Angeles area.

Sit on the left to avoid the harsh glare of the sun on afternoon westbound flights. This side provides a better angle for the Grand Canyon if the pilot takes a southern route, especially spectacular in the soft light of early morning.
