Our Recommendation
8.5

Left Side of the Plane

The left side is superior for this route as it typically provides a direct view of the Copenhagen skyline and the Øresund Bridge after takeoff, followed by the stunning Hel Peninsula and the Tri-city coastline during the descent into Gdańsk.

Left Side Highlights
8.5
🏙️

Copenhagen Skyline

Aerial views of the Danish capital's historic center and modern waterfront shortly after departure from Kastrup.

🌉

Øresund Bridge

The massive combined railway and motorway bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden across the Øresund strait.

🏝️

Bornholm Island

The northern rocky coastline and granite cliffs of Denmark's sunniest island in the middle of the Baltic Sea.

🏖️

Hel Peninsula

A unique 35km-long narrow sand spit that separates the Bay of Puck from the open Baltic Sea, a highlight of the approach.

🚢

Gdynia & Sopot

The coastal stretches of the Polish Tri-city area, including the famous wooden pier in Sopot and the busy port of Gdynia.

Sit on the left for the best chance to see the Hel Peninsula, which is one of Europe's most unique geographic formations. For morning flights, this side will have better lighting conditions as the sun is in the south. If the plane departs to the east, you will see the Swedish city of Malmö clearly.

Right Side Highlights
7.2
⚪

Møn's Cliffs

In the distance to the south, the white chalk cliffs of Møn can be spotted along the Danish coastline.

🌊

Baltic Sea Expanse

Deep blue waters dotted with cargo ships and wind farms, including the large Rødsand offshore wind farm.

🏘️

Rønne

The southern part of Bornholm island, featuring the charming capital town of Rønne and sandy beaches.

🌲

Kashubian Lake District

If the approach to GDN comes from the west, the right side views the dense forests and numerous glacial lakes of Northern Poland.

The right side is ideal for afternoon flights to avoid the direct glare of the sun. Watch for the 'Tricity Landscape Park' just before landing, which shows the dense forest surrounding the Gdańsk metropolitan area. This side is better for observing maritime traffic in the Baltic shipping lanes.
