Our Recommendation
9.2

Left Side of the Plane

The left side offers an unparalleled vantage point of the stunning Croatian coastline and the Adriatic islands during the first half of the flight, followed by a dramatic transition into the Eastern Alps.

Left Side Highlights
9.2
๐Ÿ๏ธ

Elaphiti Islands

A cluster of lush green islands scattered in the turquoise waters just north of Dubrovnik.

๐Ÿท

Peljeลกac Peninsula

The long, rugged finger of land famous for its steep vineyards and the ancient walls of Ston.

๐ŸŒŠ

Kornati Archipelago

A dense labyrinth of nearly 100 stark, white islands forming a unique maritime national park.

โ›ฐ๏ธ

Velebit Mountains

The massive limestone range where the jagged peaks meet the deep blue of the Adriatic Sea.

๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Julian Alps

The snow-capped peaks of Slovenia, including Mount Triglav, visible on the horizon during cruise.

๐ŸŒฒ

Vienna Woods

The forested highlands of the Wienerwald marking the final descent into the Vienna Basin.

Sit on the left for the best coastal photography. On morning flights, the sun is positioned to the east, providing excellent lighting on the islands without window glare. Immediately after takeoff from DBV, look down quickly; depending on the wind, you may see the terracotta rooftops of Dubrovnik's Old Town. In winter, the contrast between the blue sea and the snow-capped Velebit mountains is spectacular.

Right Side Highlights
7.4
โ›ฐ๏ธ

Dinaric Alps

The rugged, wild mountain range forming the border between Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Biokovo Massif

A giant limestone wall that rises over 1,700 meters directly from the Makarska Riviera.

๐Ÿ™๏ธ

Zagreb Surroundings

The sprawling suburban landscape and rolling hills surrounding the Croatian capital.

๐ŸŽก

City of Graz

The capital of Styria, identifiable by its red roofs and the clock tower on Schlossberg hill.

๐Ÿ‡

Burgenland Hills

Rolling vineyards and the flat plains leading toward the Neusiedler See near the Austrian border.

โœˆ๏ธ

Vienna Basin

The vast, flat agricultural plains of Lower Austria during the final approach to Schwechat.

The right side is ideal for travelers who prefer inland mountain scenery and rugged topography. On late afternoon flights, this side catches the 'golden hour' light, making the limestone peaks of the Dinarides glow. During the final descent, watch for the wind turbines of the Parndorf Plain, which indicate you are crossing into the Vienna Basin. It is also the better side for viewing the outskirts of Graz mid-flight.
