Our Recommendation
7.8

Right Side of the Plane

The right side offers a superior mix of urban and natural beauty, featuring direct views of Dublin City on departure, the rugged coastline of Anglesey, and the dramatic peaks of Snowdonia National Park.

Right Side Highlights
7.8
🏙️

Dublin City

A fantastic aerial view of the River Liffey, St Stephen's Green, and the Docklands immediately after takeoff.

🏝️

Holyhead & Anglesey

The first point of land after the sea crossing, featuring the iconic South Stack Lighthouse and rocky inlets.

⛰️

Snowdonia (Eryri)

Spectacular views of Wales' highest peaks, often dusted with snow in winter and early spring.

🌳

Shropshire Hills

Rolling green landscapes and the distinctive humped shape of The Wrekin hill near Telford.

🏢

Birmingham Center

Depending on the wind direction, you may pass directly south of the city center, seeing the Library and BT Tower.

Sit on the right side for the best chance of seeing the Welsh mountains. Morning flights provide excellent front-lighting on the peaks. This side is also best for capturing the dense urban layout of Birmingham during the descent into BHX. Choose a seat ahead of the wing for an unobstructed view of the Snowdonia range.

Left Side Highlights
6.5
☘️

Howth Head

Dramatic views of the peninsula's cliffs and the Baily Lighthouse just north of Dublin.

🌊

Irish Sea

A vast expanse of water where you can often spot ferries and offshore wind farms near the UK coast.

🏖️

North Wales Coastline

Clear views of the seaside resorts including Llandudno, the Great Orme, and Rhyl's sandy beaches.

🚢

Liverpool Bay

Distant views of the Mersey Estuary and the heavy maritime traffic entering one of the UK's busiest ports.

The left side is preferable on afternoon flights to avoid the direct glare of the sun which sits to the south. Keep an eye out for the Isle of Man to the north if visibility is exceptionally high. During the final approach into BHX, this side often sees the rural outskirts of the West Midlands.
