Our Recommendation
8.5

Right Side of the Plane

The right side provides a superior vantage point for the dramatic Pyrenees crossing and a frequently spectacular view of the Spanish coastline, including Barcelona and the final approach into the Bay of Palma.

Right Side Highlights
8.5
⛰️

Wicklow Mountains

Scenic peaks and valleys south of Dublin visible shortly after departure from runway 28R or 10L.

🌊

Bay of Biscay

A vast expanse of deep blue as the flight leaves the French coast and heads toward the Iberian Peninsula.

🏔️

The Pyrenees

A breathtaking crossing of the snow-capped border between France and Spain, usually occurring about two-thirds into the flight.

🏙️

Barcelona Coastline

The plane often tracks south along the Spanish coast, offering views of the city's unique grid layout and Sagrada Familia.

⛪

Palma Cathedral

During the final approach into PMI, the right side often looks directly onto the massive Gothic cathedral and the harbor.

The right side is generally the most scenic. For the best views of the Pyrenees and the Barcelona coastline, sit behind the wing. Note that on afternoon flights, the sun will be on this side, so window shades may be needed intermittently. For the best views of Palma city, hope for a landing on Runway 06L.

Left Side Highlights

🏰

Howth Head

Great views of the peninsula and the northern curve of Dublin Bay immediately after take-off.

🍇

Loire Valley

Aerial views of the lush, green landscapes and river systems of central France.

🌋

Massif Central

The rugged volcanic terrain and rolling hills of south-central France are visible mid-flight.

🏝️

Menorca

On clear days during the descent, the neighboring island of Menorca is often visible to the east.

⛰️

Serra de Tramuntana

Views of the UNESCO-protected mountain range on the northern coast of Mallorca during the approach.

Choose the left side for morning flights to avoid the direct southern sun. It is particularly good for spotting the smaller Balearic Islands and the rugged northern cliffs of Mallorca if the flight path tracks east of the island before turning in for landing.
