EVN β WAW
Which side of the plane to sit from Zvartnots International Airport (Yerevan) to Warsaw Chopin Airport (Warsaw)?
Left Side of the Plane
The left side offers a premier view of Mount Ararat shortly after takeoff, followed by exceptional views of the Romanian Carpathians and the approach into Warsaw over the Vistula River.
Mount Ararat
The iconic snow-capped volcanic peaks of Great and Little Ararat visible immediately after takeoff from Yerevan.
Turkish Black Sea Coast
The dramatic meeting point of the Pontic Mountains and the deep blue waters of the Black Sea.
Southern Carpathians
The FΔgΔraΘ Mountains in Romania, featuring some of the highest and most rugged peaks in the region.
Transylvanian Landscape
A scenic mosaic of rolling hills, ancient forests, and medieval Romanian towns.
Warsaw Skyline
Clear views of the Vistula River and the modern skyscrapers of central Warsaw during the final descent.
To see Mount Ararat clearly, book an early morning flight when the air is most transparent and the sun illuminates the eastern face. During takeoff from EVN, the left side is almost guaranteed a majestic view. For the approach into WAW, the left side usually provides a better angle of the city center if the aircraft approaches from the south.
Mount Aragats
Armenia's highest peak, a four-peaked volcanic massif situated north of Yerevan.
Greater Caucasus Range
Distal views of the massive mountain chain that marks the border between Europe and Asia.
Black Sea Horizon
An uninterrupted view of the vast maritime expanse while transiting between the Caucasus and the Balkans.
Tatra Mountains
The rocky, alpine-style peaks that form the natural border between Slovakia and Poland.
Lublin Uplands
The charming, geometric patterns of the diverse agricultural fields in Eastern Poland.
The right side is ideal for afternoon flights to avoid the direct glare of the sun, which will be to the south (left). It offers the best perspective of Mount Aragats during climb-out and the snowy High Tatras as you enter Polish airspace from the south.
