FMMPMI

Our Recommendation
9.3

Right Side of the Plane

The right side offers a superior vantage point for the most iconic landmarks, including Europe's highest peak, Mont Blanc, and the legendary descent over Mallorca's Tramuntana mountains and Palma's cathedral.

Right Side Highlights
9.3
🏔️

Mont Blanc

A breathtaking view of the highest mountain in the Alps, often passing very close to its snow-capped summit.

🦢

Lake Geneva

The unmistakable crescent shape of Lac Léman and the city of Geneva visible as you enter French airspace.

🦩

Rhône Delta

The salt pans and pink-hued lagoons of the Camargue region where the Rhône river meets the sea.

⛰️

Serra de Tramuntana

The UNESCO-listed mountain range of Northern Mallorca is the first landmass you see upon arrival.

⛪

Palma Cathedral

During the standard approach into PMI, you often get a perfect view of the Gothic 'La Seu' cathedral and the harbor.

This is the 'money' side for photographers. Choose a seat behind the wing for unobstructed views of Mont Blanc. For the arrival in Palma, the right side is statistically more likely to see the city and cathedral as most flights circle through the Bay of Palma for landing on Runway 24. Use polarized sunglasses to better see the turquoise gradients of the Mediterranean.

Left Side Highlights
8.2
🏔️

Swiss Alps Massif

Dramatic views of the Bernese Oberland and the jagged peaks of Central Switzerland early in the flight.

💧

Lake Constance

The vast 'Bodensee' is visible shortly after takeoff, marking the border between Germany and Switzerland.

⚓

Marseille Coastline

Stunning views of the Old Port of Marseille and the rugged white cliffs of the Calanques National Park.

🏝️

Menorca Views

On clear days, the neighboring island of Menorca can be spotted to the east just before descending into Mallorca.

Sit on the left for softer morning light when flying south. This side provides excellent views of the French Riviera coastline as you transition from the Alps to the Mediterranean. If the flight path takes a more easterly route, you will also get a great look at the island of Corsica in the far distance.
