FRAINN

Our Recommendation
8.9

Right Side of the Plane

While both sides offer incredible views during the descent, the Right Side is superior for its direct line of sight to the Zugspitze (Germany's highest peak) and the glaciated peaks of the Stubai Alps during the final approach into the Inn Valley.

Right Side Highlights
8.9
🛥️

Main River Loops

The serpentine curves of the Main river as it winds through the Bavarian Franconia region.

⛰️

Swabian Jura

The rugged limestone plateau and steep escarpments of southwestern Germany.

🏔️

Zugspitze

A breathtaking view of Germany's highest summit and the surrounding Wetterstein massif.

💎

Lake Eibsee

The crystal-clear, turquoise alpine lake sitting at the very base of the Zugspitze north face.

❄️

Stubai Glacier

The expansive ice fields and jagged high-alpine peaks of the Stubai Alps south of the flight path.

The right side is the 'mountain side' for the majority of the descent. Watch for the Zugspitze about 15 minutes before landing. Due to the steep terrain around Innsbruck, pilots often perform sharp turns in the valley; a window seat here provides a dramatic 'wing-down' view of the alpine slopes. Seasonal note: in winter, the snow-covered peaks are most dazzling during midday flights when the sun is high.

Left Side Highlights
8.2
🏙️

Frankfurt Skyline

Clear views of the 'Mainhattan' skyscrapers and the banking district immediately after takeoff.

🌳

Odenwald Forest

Rolling hills and dense deciduous forests of the low mountain range in southern Hesse.

🏔️

Nordkette Range

The dramatic limestone wall of the Karwendel mountains rising 2,000 meters directly above the city.

🏛️

Innsbruck Old Town

Aerial perspective of the historic city center and the colorful houses along the Inn River.

⛷️

Bergisel Ski Jump

The iconic Zaha Hadid-designed Olympic landmark perched on the hillside south of the city.

Sit on the left for the best views of the Nordkette mountains and the city center during the final seconds of the landing. If the plane approaches from the west (Runway 08), you will see the city spread out before you. For morning flights, this side benefits from the sun being behind the aircraft, lighting up the valley walls perfectly.
