FRAVRA

Our Recommendation
8.4

Right Side of the Plane

The right side offers the best perspective of the iconic Hicacos Peninsula upon arrival in Varadero and generally provides better views of the Canadian Maritimes and potentially Greenland, while avoiding direct sun glare for most of the westbound journey.

Right Side Highlights
8.4
🌳

Taunus Mountains

Rolling forested hills and quaint German villages north of Frankfurt immediately after takeoff.

🧊

Newfoundland Coast

The rugged, rocky shores of St. John's and potential icebergs in the Labrador Current during spring.

🦞

Nova Scotia

Scenic views of the jagged Canadian coastline, deep inlets, and dense evergreen forests.

🏖️

Hicacos Peninsula

A stunning view of the 20km thin strip of white sand and turquoise water that defines Varadero.

🚢

Straits of Florida

Active shipping lanes and the transition from the deep Atlantic to the shallow Caribbean shelf.

The right side is highly recommended for photography as it faces north, away from the sun, providing consistent lighting and clearer views of the Canadian coast. For the arrival into VRA, the right side usually provides the most dramatic view of the Varadero hotel zone. Sit as far forward as possible to avoid wing obstruction of the coastline.

Left Side Highlights
7.6
🍷

Rhine-Main Region

Bird's-eye view of the Rhine river and the vineyards of the Rheingau region shortly after departure.

🎡

Greater London

On clear southern tracks, the sprawling urban landscape of London and the Thames are visible to the south.

🏙️

US East Coast

Distant views of the Atlantic city skylines and the bright lights of the Jersey Shore during the coastal transit.

🌴

The Florida Keys

Vibrant turquoise waters and the Seven Mile Bridge visible as the flight crosses toward the Caribbean.

🇨🇺

Matanzas Bay

The deep blue waters of the Bahía de Matanzas and the lush Yumurí Valley during the final approach.

As this is a westbound flight, the sun will be on the left (south) side of the aircraft for the duration of the trip. Expect significant glare and heat; keep your window shade partially closed to maintain cabin temperature. However, this side is excellent for seeing the sunset if the flight arrives late in the day during winter months.
