Our Recommendation
8.8

Left Side of the Plane

The left side offers a superior view of the dramatic transition from the Texas plains into the rugged red rock country of Southern Utah and the jagged peaks of the San Juan Mountains.

Left Side Highlights
8.8
🏜️

Palo Duro Canyon

The second largest canyon in the US, visible as you cross the Texas Panhandle.

🏔️

San Juan Mountains

Snow-capped volcanic peaks in Southwestern Colorado known for their rugged beauty.

🏜️

Canyonlands & Moab

Stunning vistas of the Green and Colorado Rivers carving through red sandstone.

🪨

Arches National Park

Aerial perspective of the high concentration of natural stone arches near Moab.

🏔️

Wasatch Front

A close-up view of the steep mountain wall flanking the eastern side of the Salt Lake Valley.

Sit on the left for the best views of the red rock formations in Utah. If flying in the afternoon, the sun will be behind you, illuminating the landscapes perfectly. Look out for the transition from the flat Texas plains to the sudden rise of the Southern Rockies about halfway through the flight.

Right Side Highlights
8.2
🏔️

Pikes Peak

The most famous 14,000-foot peak in the Colorado Front Range.

🏙️

Denver Skyline

Distant views of the Mile High City as you pass over Central Colorado.

⛰️

Rocky Mountain National Park

Glacier-carved valleys and high alpine tundra visible to the north of the flight path.

💧

Flaming Gorge

The bright blue waters of the Green River reservoir nestled in red canyons.

🌊

Great Salt Lake

Depending on the approach, the right side often sees the vast, shimmering salt water and islands.

The right side is excellent for seeing the massive peaks of the Colorado Front Range. During the final descent into SLC, this side often provides a great view of the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island if the wind requires a northern approach. Use a window seat forward of the wing to avoid engine heat haze distorting your photos of the mountains.
