Our Recommendation
8.2

Right Side of the Plane

The Right Side is preferred for the iconic arrival into Majuro. As the plane descends, you are treated to a spectacular view of the turquoise lagoon, contrasting sharply with the narrow ribbon of land that makes up the atoll's main inhabited areas.

Right Side Highlights
8.2
🏖️

Anibare Bay

View Nauru's most picturesque coastline and the heavy cantilever structures used for loading phosphate ships.

🛶

Mili Atoll

A massive atoll visible on the horizon during the initial descent into the Ratak (Sunrise) Chain.

💎

Majuro Lagoon

The star of the flight: a vibrant turquoise lagoon surrounded by a thin, unbroken line of palm-fringed land.

✈️

Amata Kabua Approach

Experience the sensation of landing on a needle-thin strip of land with water visible just meters from the runway on both sides.

Sit on the right for the most dramatic landing experience in the Pacific. The final 10 minutes of the flight offer an unparalleled view of the Majuro lagoon. For morning flights, this side is also better as the sun will be behind or above the aircraft, providing the best lighting for the vibrant reef colors.

Left Side Highlights
7.5
🏝️

Nauru West Coast

Capture the unique topography of Nauru's phosphate-mined center and the coastal perimeter road immediately after takeoff.

💠

Ebon Atoll

The first landmark of the Marshall Islands, this isolated ring of coral is often visible on the port side.

🌊

Jaluit Atoll

A sprawling reef system with a deep lagoon that was once a major regional hub during the colonial era.

🐚

Kili Island

A solitary coral island, notable for being the home of the displaced Bikini Atoll population.

The left side is excellent for spotting the isolated atolls of the Ralik Chain. If you are flying in the late afternoon, this side will experience the sunset over the open Pacific, though glare may be an issue for photography. It is the best side for seeing the primary geographic features of the southern Marshall Islands.
