Our Recommendation
8.5

Left Side of the Plane

The left side offers the most iconic view of the 'Mogran'—the confluence of the Blue and White Niles—during the descent into Khartoum, as well as a great look at the Jeddah Corniche during takeoff.

Left Side Highlights
8.5
🏙️

Jeddah Corniche

Aerial views of the King Fahd Fountain and the sprawling coastal developments of Jeddah immediately after departure.

🌊

Red Sea Crossing

A vast expanse of deep blue water contrasting with the bright turquoise coral reefs near the Saudi and Sudanese coastlines.

⛰️

Red Sea Hills

Rugged, dark volcanic mountain ranges that rise sharply from the Sudanese coastal plain.

🏜️

Bayuda Desert

The stark, beautiful landscape of the eastern Sahara featuring ancient dry riverbeds and shifting dunes.

💧

The Nile Confluence

The spectacular sight of the Blue and White Niles meeting in Khartoum, where the distinct colors of the two rivers merge.

Choose a window seat on the left for the approach into Khartoum; the pilot often banks in a way that provides a perfect view of the two Niles joining. Afternoon flights are ideal as the sun will be on the right side of the aircraft, providing better lighting for photography on the left without glare.

Right Side Highlights
7.2
🏖️

Obhur Creek

Views of the luxury resorts and turquoise inlets north of Jeddah during the initial climb.

🚢

Port Sudan Hinterland

The distant silhouette of Sudan's primary maritime gateway and the surrounding arid plains.

🌵

Nubian Desert Expanses

Incredible patterns of wind-swept sand and rocky outcrops characteristic of the northeastern Sudanese wilderness.

🏘️

Omdurman Cityscape

The dense, historic urban layout of Omdurman, the largest city in Sudan, visible just before landing.

The right side is excellent for observing the vastness of the Nubian Desert. During morning flights, this side will be shaded, which is better for viewing the ground without the intensity of the desert sun reflecting off the wing.
