Our Recommendation
8.7

Left Side of the Plane

The left side offers a superior vantage point of the lush Pico Bonito mountain range upon departure and the world-renowned Seven Mile Beach during the approach into Georgetown.

Left Side Highlights
8.7
⛰️

Pico Bonito National Park

Dramatic views of the 2,435-meter peak and dense tropical rainforest immediately after takeoff from La Ceiba.

🏝️

Utila Island

The smallest of the major Bay Islands, known for its coral reefs, visible as you climb over the Caribbean.

🏖️

Seven Mile Beach

A stunning aerial view of Grand Cayman's most famous white-sand crescent during the final descent.

🚤

North Sound

The large shallow lagoon of Grand Cayman, where you can often spot the turquoise waters of Stingray City.

Book a window seat on the left for the most iconic views. During takeoff, the mountains are immediately visible. For the arrival at GCM, pilots usually land on Runway 08, which places Seven Mile Beach directly in your line of sight. Afternoon flights are best to avoid the southern glare over the water.

Right Side Highlights
7.4
🪸

Cayos Cochinos

A group of two small islands and 13 coral cays that look like gems in the deep blue sea shortly after departure.

🌴

Roatán and Guanaja

Panoramic views of the larger Bay Islands to the east as the aircraft tracks north toward the Cayman Islands.

🌊

Cayman Trench

The deepest part of the Caribbean Sea, characterized by a shift to incredibly deep indigo water mid-flight.

The right side is excellent for spotting the smaller coral cays near the Honduran coast. If the flight path is adjusted or if landing on Runway 26, you'll see the rugged East End of Grand Cayman. Morning flights provide the best lighting for the eastern island chain.
