Our Recommendation
8.8

Right Side of the Plane

While both sides offer stunning tropical views, the Right Side is generally superior for its views of the Florida Everglades upon departure and the breathtaking first glimpses of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef during the descent into Roatan.

🐊

Everglades National Park

Witness the 'River of Grass' and the intricate labyrinth of mangrove forests in the Florida wetlands.

🏝️

Florida Bay

Stunning patterns of shallow sandbars and sea grass beds between the mainland and the Keys.

🇨🇺

Western Cuba

View the rugged mogotes and tobacco fields of the Pinar del Rio region if the flight path tracks west.

🪸

Mesoamerican Barrier Reef

The world's second-largest reef system becomes visible in vibrant shades of electric blue and neon green on descent.

🚁

Roatan North Shore

Lush jungle hills meeting the white-sand beaches and coral formations just before landing at RTB.

The right side is the 'money side' for the approach into Roatan. As the plane descends into Juan Manuel Galvez Airport, the cockpit often lines up to provide a panoramic view of the reef on the starboard side. Try to book a seat forward of the wing to ensure the engine doesn't block your view of the coral formations.

🏙️

Biscayne Bay

Aerial views of the Miami skyline, the Port of Miami, and the turquoise waters of the bay immediately after takeoff.

🌴

Upper Florida Keys

Views of Key Largo and the string of emerald islands stretching toward the horizon.

🇨🇺

Central Cuban Coastline

Bird's-eye view of the diverse Cuban landscape as the plane traverses the island towards the Caribbean Sea.

🌊

Cayman Trench

Watch the water color shift from light turquoise to deep navy as you fly over one of the deepest parts of the ocean.

Sit on the left if you want the best views of the Florida Keys and the urban sprawl of South Miami. This side is also excellent for late-afternoon flights to avoid direct glare from the setting sun in the west.
