Our Recommendation
9.2

Right Side of the Plane

The Right Side is typically superior for this route as it provides the best vantage point for the massive Greenland ice sheet, Baffin Island's fjords, and the most dramatic peaks of the Canadian Rockies.

Right Side Highlights
9.2
🧊

Greenland Ice Sheet

Breathtaking views of the world's second-largest body of ice, featuring deep crevasses and blue meltwater lakes.

🏔️

Baffin Island

Extremely rugged Arctic terrain characterized by massive granite cliffs and ice-filled fjords.

🌊

Hudson Bay

Crossing the world's second-largest bay, which often remains ice-covered well into the summer months.

🏔️

Canadian Rockies

Stunning panoramas of iconic peaks like Mt. Robson as the flight crosses into British Columbia.

🌲

Garibaldi Park

Aerial perspective of volcanic peaks and turquoise alpine lakes just north of Vancouver.

The right side is the 'cool side' for this flight, as it faces north away from the sun, making photography much easier without glare. It offers the most consistent views of the high Arctic and Greenland's interior. For winter flights, this side provides the best opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) if the flight is in darkness. Aim for a seat in front of the wing for unobstructed views of the glacier fields.

Left Side Highlights
8.5
🌊

Frisian Islands

Aerial views of the island chain along the German and Dutch coasts shortly after departure.

🧊

South Greenland Coast

Spectacular views of drifting icebergs and deep coastal fjords at the southern tip of Greenland.

🌲

The Canadian Shield

A vast expanse of ancient rock, boreal forests, and thousands of glaciated lakes in Northern Canada.

🌾

Western Prairies

The transition from dense forest to the geometric patterns of the vast Canadian plains.

🏙️

Vancouver Skyline

Excellent views of Downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, and the Lions Gate Bridge during the final descent.

Choose the left side if you want the best chance of seeing the Vancouver city skyline during landing on Runway 26L. Since this is a westbound flight leaving MUC in the morning, the sun will be on the left (south) for much of the journey; keep your window shade down periodically to avoid glare. It is also the better side for spotting the Southern Greenland coastline if the flight path stays more southerly.
