Our Recommendation
8.8

Right Side of the Plane

While both sides offer stunning Alpine crossings, the Right Side is preferred for its superior views of the high Austrian Alps and the higher probability of seeing the historic Prague skyline during the final approach into Václav Havel Airport.

Right Side Highlights
8.8
🏖️

Alcúdia Bay

Aerial views of northern Mallorca's turquoise waters and long sandy beaches shortly after departure.

🏔️

Hohe Tauern

A spectacular crossing of the high Austrian Alps, often featuring glacier-capped peaks.

💎

Lake Chiemsee

Known as the 'Bavarian Sea,' look for the famous palace on Herrenchiemsee island.

🏰

Prague Castle

During the descent, the world's largest ancient castle complex is often visible to the right.

🛰️

Vltava River

Follow the winding path of the river as it cuts through the Bohemian landscape toward the capital.

The right side is the 'money side' for the arrival in Prague; if the aircraft lands on Runway 24 (the most common configuration), you will get a panoramic view of the city center. Late afternoon flights are particularly scenic on this side as the setting sun illuminates the Alps and the 'City of a Hundred Spires' in gold.

Left Side Highlights
8.2
🏔️

Serra de Tramuntana

Immediately after takeoff, witness the UNESCO-listed mountain range stretching along Mallorca's northwest coast.

🌊

Gulf of Lion

A broad view of the French Mediterranean coastline near Montpellier and Marseille.

❄️

Swiss Alps

Distinguished views of the snow-capped Bernese Oberland peaks in the distance.

💧

Lake Constance

The massive 'Bodensee' marking the border between Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

🌲

Bohemian Forest

The dense, rolling green hills of the Šumava National Park as you enter Czech airspace.

Opt for the left side on morning flights to avoid the direct southern sun glare. This side provides an excellent perspective of the rugged Mallorcan coastline upon departure and the industrial heart of Southern Germany during the cruise phase.
