SEAHNS

Our Recommendation
9.5

Right Side of the Plane

The right side offers an unparalleled front-row seat to the dramatic Coast Mountains and the massive icefields of British Columbia and Alaska, culminating in a spectacular descent through the Lynn Canal.

Right Side Highlights
9.5
🏔️

Mount Baker

An iconic, snow-capped glaciated volcano in Washington state, visible shortly after departure from SEA.

❄️

BC Coast Mountains

A continuous chain of jagged, snow-covered peaks stretching hundreds of miles along the coast.

🧊

Stikine Icecap

A massive field of ice and glaciers spanning the border between British Columbia and Alaska.

🏞️

Juneau Icefield

Incredible views of the Taku and Mendenhall glaciers spilling out from the high alpine plateau.

🚢

Lynn Canal

A breathtaking final approach over one of the longest and deepest fjords in the world.

Sit on the right side and try to get a seat forward of the wing for an unobstructed view of the glacial fields. Morning flights provide the best side-lighting for the mountain peaks. As the plane descends into Haines, the right side offers a dramatic view of the Chilkat Range and the steep fjord walls.

Left Side Highlights
7.0
🌊

Pacific Coastline

The rugged interface between the North Pacific Ocean and the North American continent.

🌲

Vancouver Island

View the northern, more remote reaches of the island and its dense evergreen forests.

🦅

Haida Gwaii

The remote and culturally significant archipelago formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands.

🏝️

Alexander Archipelago

The thousands of islands that make up the labyrinthine waterways of the Alaskan Panhandle.

☁️

Gulf of Alaska

On the later stages of the flight, the vast and moody expanse of the Gulf opens up to the west.

The left side is superior for evening flights, offering stunning sunsets over the Pacific horizon. During late spring and summer, look for the glint of sunlight on the water which can occasionally reveal the spray from whales in the deeper channels.
