Our Recommendation
8.5

Right Side of the Plane

The right side is generally superior for this route as it offers a dramatic crossing of the Pyrenees and a prime view of the majestic Mount Teide volcano during the approach into Tenerife.

Right Side Highlights
8.8
🏔️

The Pyrenees

Breathtaking views of the high peaks dividing France and Spain, often snow-capped in winter and spring.

🌊

Bay of Biscay

The rugged coastline of northern Spain and the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean as you transition over the water.

🌋

Mount Teide

The star attraction; Spain's highest peak usually appears prominently on the right during the descent into Tenerife South.

🏜️

Lunar Landscapes

The stark, volcanic terrain of Tenerife's interior, resembling a Martian landscape, is visible as the plane banks for arrival.

🌅

Atlantic Horizon

Unobstructed views of the vast ocean, offering incredible colors if the flight coincides with the sunset.

The right side is the 'Teide Side'. To see the volcano clearly, check the wind direction; if landing from the east (Runway 25), the volcano will be clearly visible out of the right window. This side is also best for catching the late afternoon light hitting the Spanish coastline.

Left Side Highlights
7.2
🌲

Brandenburg Lakes

Aerial views of the sprawling lake districts and dense forests south of Berlin shortly after takeoff.

🏙️

Central Germany Peaks

Views of the Harz mountains and the urban sprawl of Leipzig depending on the specific flight corridor.

🏖️

Canary Archipelago

During the final descent, you often get a distant view of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura to the east.

🏝️

Gran Canaria Silhouette

The circular volcanic profile of Gran Canaria is frequently visible on the left just before the final turn to TFS.

🚢

Port of Granadilla

A view of the industrial coastline and wind farms of eastern Tenerife during the very final stage of landing.

Sit on the left if you are flying in the morning to avoid the harsh southern sun. This side is also excellent for spotting the eastern Canary Islands (Lanzarote/Fuerteventura) as you enter the archipelago's airspace approximately 40 minutes before landing.
