Our Recommendation
8.5

Left Side of the Plane

The left side offers a stunning panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea's numerous islands and the northern coastline of Shikoku during the descent into Takamatsu.

Left Side Highlights
8.5
🌊

Northern Taiwan Coastline

Bird's-eye view of the Tamsui River mouth and the rugged northern tip of Taiwan immediately after takeoff.

🛳️

East China Sea

Vast blue ocean views with scattered cargo ships traversing the busy maritime routes between Taiwan and Japan.

⛰️

Kyushu Coastline

Distant silhouettes of the volcanic mountains of southern Kyushu as the flight moves northeast.

🌉

Seto Inland Sea Islands

The highlight of the trip featuring the 'Shimanami Kaido' region and hundreds of tiny forested islands.

🏙️

Takamatsu Port

A close-up view of the urban landscape and the ferry terminals as the plane lines up for the runway.

For morning flights (the most common schedule for TPE-TAK), the Left Side (Seat A) is ideal as the sun will be on the opposite side, preventing glare on your window. Keep your camera ready during the last 20 minutes of flight for the Seto Inland Sea national park views. In spring, you might spot the pink haze of cherry blossoms covering the hillsides of the islands below.

Right Side Highlights
7.2
🏔️

Taiwan Central Range

On clear days, see the distant, jagged peaks of Taiwan's high mountains shortly after departure.

🏝️

Ryukyu Island Chain

Occasional sightings of the southern Japanese islands like Ishigaki or Okinawa depending on the specific air corridor.

🌊

Pacific Horizon

An uninterrupted view of the deep blue Pacific Ocean stretching toward the eastern horizon.

🗻

Sanuki Fuji (Mt. Iino)

The perfectly conical mountain that resembles Mount Fuji, a symbol of the Kagawa region, visible just before landing.

The Right Side (Seat K/F) is excellent for catching the sunrise on early morning departures. While it misses the bulk of the Seto Inland Sea islands, it offers a great look at 'Sanuki Fuji' (Mount Iino) during the final approach. Be aware that the sun will be directly hitting this side for much of the flight, so it can get quite warm if the window shade is left up.
