Our Recommendation
8.8

Right Side of the Plane

While both sides offer stunning maritime scenery, the Right Side provides a more dramatic perspective of the Saguenay Fjord's mouth and the rugged Charlevoix coastline before a spectacular view of Montmorency Falls on the final approach.

Right Side Highlights
8.8
🐋

St. Lawrence Estuary

Deep blue waters where the Gulf meets the river, a prime area for spotting whale activity from above.

🛶

Saguenay Fjord Mouth

The dramatic meeting point of the dark Saguenay River waters and the St. Lawrence near Tadoussac.

☄️

Charlevoix Biosphere

The unique undulating landscape formed by a massive meteor impact millions of years ago.

🍎

Île d'Orléans

A patchwork of ancestral farms and orchards surrounded by the river just minutes before landing.

💦

Montmorency Falls

The massive waterfall, taller than Niagara, is clearly visible on the right during the approach to runway 24 or 30.

Request a window seat on the right for the best views of the North Shore's wild topography. This side is particularly stunning in autumn when the Charlevoix forests turn brilliant shades of red and orange.

Left Side Highlights

🏝️

Magdalen Islands Coastline

Aerial view of the iconic red sandstone cliffs and white sand dunes of the archipelago immediately after takeoff.

⛰️

Gaspé Peninsula

The rugged terrain of the Chic-Choc Mountains and the Gaspésie National Park stretching along the southern horizon.

⛵

Rimouski & Pointe-au-Père

The historic lighthouse and submarine site at Pointe-au-Père are often visible along the south shore.

🏘️

Kamouraska Region

The picturesque coastal villages and long wharfs typical of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.

🏰

Lévis Skyline

The cityscape of Lévis directly across the river from Old Quebec during the final descent.

The left side is superior for sunset flights as the sun dips below the Appalachian horizon. Keep a lookout for the Percé Rock shortly after departure if the pilot takes a southern vector over the Gulf.
