As you climb out, the right side provides expansive views of the namesake Rainbow Lake and the vast, untouched taiga wilderness of the Hay River Basin.
The left side is generally preferred for this southward journey as it offers potential views of the vast Lesser Slave Lake in the distance and provides the most consistent perspective of the Edmonton skyline and the North Saskatchewan River valley during the descent into YEG.
The left side offers a front-row seat to the Hay-Zama Lakes, a globally significant wetland complex, and better views of the meandering Hay River basin.
