Left Side of the Plane

The left side provides an expansive view of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the stunning archipelago of islands that define this rugged coastline, offering a superior maritime perspective.

Left Side Highlights
8.7
🌊

Gulf of St. Lawrence

Gaze out into the vast, deep blue waters of the Gulf, which dominates the horizon for the duration of the flight.

🏝️

Gros Mécatina Archipelago

Fly over a labyrinth of rocky islands and islets that characterize this unique section of the Lower North Shore.

🧊

Spring Icebergs

In late spring and early summer, look for large white icebergs drifting southward through the coastal waters.

🐋

Marine Life Spotting

During summer months, keep an eye on the water surface for the distinct spouts of whales migrating through the Gulf.

🗺️

Island Chains

The intricate patterns of small, uninhabited islands provide a mesmerizing geographical display from a low altitude.

This is a very short flight (approx. 15 minutes). Sit on the left for the best views of the open sea and the island chains. Morning flights provide excellent lighting on the water without the glare of the afternoon sun. If flying in May or June, watch closely for icebergs which are a signature of this route.

Right Side Highlights
8.2
🏔️

Canadian Shield Terrain

Observe the ancient, exposed rock of the Laurentian Plateau, showing the raw geological history of Quebec.

🌿

Subarctic Tundra

The landscape is a mix of mosses, lichens, and low-lying shrubs typical of the northern coastal environment.

💧

Inland Ponds

The mainland is dotted with countless small 'puddles' and lakes carved out by prehistoric glacial activity.

🏘️

Remote Settlements

Catch glimpses of the isolated coastal communities that are only accessible by sea or air.

⚓

Tête-à-la-Baleine Approach

As the plane descends, enjoy a close-up view of the rugged mainland inlets near the village of Tête-à-la-Baleine.

The right side is ideal for seeing the rugged, rocky mainland of the Côte-Nord. Because the aircraft usually flies at a low altitude, the detail of the lichen-covered rocks and small lakes is incredible. It is particularly scenic during autumn when the tundra vegetation turns vibrant shades of red and gold.
